How to Organize Your Playbook

Playbook Organization
This video from Just Play Football explores three primary methods for organizing and building a digital playbook within their platform. The goal is to encourage coaches to "begin with the end in mind" by considering how their players will ultimately view and learn the information.
The Three Organizational Methods:
By Concept (0:48 - 2:32): This method groups all variations of a concept (e.g., "Snag") into a single item. Players can swipe through different diagrams and videos for that concept in one place. While it centralizes information, it can lead to more generic assignment tables.
By Formation Family (2:35 - 4:15): This approach divides concepts into formation-specific buckets (e.g., 2x2 or 3x1 looks). It strikes a balance by allowing for more detailed assignments while still maintaining a logical flow for the players.
By Play Call (4:19 - 5:50): This method isolates each specific play call. It allows for the highest level of detail in assignments and specific video-to-drawing matching, though it increases the total number of items players must navigate.
Administrative Considerations:
The video also demonstrates how these organizational structures look on the administrative/coaching side (6:08 onwards). Regardless of the chosen method, Just Play allows coaches to:
Easily manage presentations by adding or removing items from the base playbook (7:03).
Use tagging and grouping tools to keep the playbook organized behind the scenes (9:00).
Print materials automatically (10:22), ensuring that the digital structure translates effectively to physical handouts if needed.
